How to see the old Print Preview in Excel 2010

Old School Print Preview

Excel 2010 introduced the File tab with its new Print Preview screen. Many users don’t like this new layout and want the good old fashioned Print Preview screen they are used to. As with many features in Excel, it’s still there, you just need to find it.

All you need to do is add a new icon to your Quick Access Toolbar (QAT). This toolbar is situated above the Ribbon when Excel is installed. It has the Save and the Undo button on it. See my previous blog post on customising the Quick Access Toolbar.

I have my QAT below the Ribbon as it’s easier to reach. The icon you need to add to the QAT is called Print Preview Full Screen.

To find it you need to

1 Right click the QAT and select Customize Quick Access Toolbar

2 In the Choose commands from drop down then select Commands Not in the Ribbon

3 Scroll two thirds of the way down the left hand list and double click the Print Preview Full Screen option. Click in the image below to see more detail.

4 Use the up and down arrows on the right of the dialog to move the icon on the QAT

5 Click OK

You can scan through the list of Commands Not in the Ribbon and add any other commands you use.
