Text for a week in Excel

Time to TEXT

When working with weeks in Excel you may need to show the start and end date of the week in the same cell. Here’s how you can do that.

In the image below we have a start date for the week in cell A2.

The formula to display the week start and end date in a single cell is in B2 and is

=TEXT(A2,"dd mmm - ")&TEXT(A2+6,"dd mmm")

The TEXT function converts dates into specially formatted text dates.

The & symbol joins text together.

You can use the dash (minus sign) symbol when creating the format so I added it to the end of the first date to simplify combining the two dates.

If you use a single d in the format it drops any leading zeroes – see image below.
