Using the Custom Month List Function

In the previous post I created a custom function that creates a horizontal list of months based on three inputs. In this post I share a few ways that you can use this list.

In the image below we can see the list being created. It spills across the page.

Let’s say we wanted a vertical list of dates. What you can do is use the transpose function to convert the horizontal list to a vertical list. See the image below.

You may want to create a list of text headings. Using text headings gets around the issue of having to format the date. In the images below you can see come examples of using the TEXT function to create different text headings.

As you can see custom functions offer many possibilities for improving the way you use and build formulas.
