Insert an Image in a Cell Note

Cell Notes used to be called Cell Comments and they were like a “Post-it” note for a cell. You can insert a picture in a Note. This could be useful to show a picture but not to have it take up space on the sheet or print.

See the image below for an example.

Whenever you point to the cell with the mouse the image will appear.

To insert an image in a cell Note, follow these steps.

1. Right click the cell and choose New Note.

2. Delete all the text in the Note.

3. Click the border of the Note and the press Ctrl + 1 to format it. The dialog below should appear. If the dialog only has the Font tab try again as you need the multi-tab dialog. Note the dialog is still called Format Comment even though it is now a Note.

4. Click the Colours and Lines tab and then click the Colour drop-down in the top section and choose the last option – Fill Effects – see below.

5. In the dialog that opens click the Select Picture button – image below.

6. Click the From a file option – image below.

7. Navigate to the picture you want and select it and click the Insert button – image below.

8. Click OK.

9. Click OK once more to insert the picture in the Note.

Please note: I reserve the right to delete comments that are offensive or off-topic.
